Lady A has been one of my favorite country bands out there. Every song on this album is very good. Never get tired of listening to it.
This album came out in and it took Lady Antebellum eight years to do a deluxe version of this album, making it deluxe by adding four new tracks to this album instead of recording a few Christmas songs through the years and amassing enough material to release a second volume but oh well, the time that passed between the original album and the new tracks is pretty much undetectable as the arrangements of the new tracks compliment the original album and the vocals show zero sign of falter.
First new Christmas Album I've bought in many years. Love their voices. Couldn't stop playing this throughout the season more than any other album.
Really enjoyed Lady A's renditions of these songs. One of my new favorite Christmas albums. Will definitely be in regular rotation during the season. I had high hopes for this album. I was disappointed. To sum it up - it was good playing, good vocals, mundane arrangements and, in the end sounded like so many other groups. I was looking for something really different. I did not find it here. One person found this helpful. Great addition to my Christmas CD collection. One of my favorites.

I was not able to return. The reason I ordered it. Guess its on a deluxe edition. My family's favorite Christmas album for the last few years! I will always keep a copy of this album to bring me back to this time in our lives.
Good vocals and music arrangement. A little Country in style, but still good for all main steam music lovers. We've gifted this CD a few times. I really like this CD. It is country, to be sure, but there are a lot of other influences at play. Some of the songs have a big "brass" sound.
Others remind you a little of Motown. The title song, "On this Winter's Night" is lovely. Their rendition of "Silent Night" is one of my all time favorites, which I think says something because everyone has recorded "Silent Night", it seems.
The bottom line: if you like Christmas music and country music, you will like this CD. If country's not your favorite, you'll probably find a few tracks you like anyway. I really only knew Lady Antebellum's top 10 smash hit and wasn't familiar with them as a "band". I heard this album and absolutely fell in love.
The songs are lovely Christmas selections, but more than that, the arrangements are breathtaking! The harmonies soar and leave you floating on a cloud of Christmas spirit, but not without a sense of humor and some alternatively festive and somber moments. It is really quite a beautiful album, very well constructed, and the artists are just that If this is "new country" then color me a "country music" convert.
This band is on the top of my hit list for Christmas! See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. I'm a big fan of Lady Antebellum. So I bought it with mixed feelings : on the one hand loving their brand of country music.
But on the other hand not sure about them doing Christmas songs. But I needn't have worried. It is a very entertaining album from start to finish. Instead of the usual country backing they have on most of their albums : albeit a little heavy sometimes : they have a strong jazz backing on some of the tracks here more prominently on the faster numbers. The First Noel is a treat to hear from Hilary.
But then Silent Night is even better. But you haven't heard anything until you hear Charles Kelley singing Blue Christmas.
I've always loved Elvis singing it especially his live version of it on his famous Comeback Concert where he sings in his famous black leather with the other band members all sitting in a circle and it's available on DVD.
You can see it on YouTube. And while you're looking at that, also thanks to modern technology, you can also see the exact same concert appearance when Martina Mcbride steps onto the same stage beside Elvis and they both sing Blue Christmas to each other. It's briliantly joined together especially as I'm quite sure she wasn't even born in at the time of the concert. But as great as they are doing it, Lady Antebellum are even better. The band backing the song are playing such great jazz that you can't keep still and I will admit every time it reaches that track I can't resist repeating it again and again even when I'm driving in my car.
People are looking. It's August and I'm repeating a Christmas song over and over again. In short. Get it. You'll be glad. I hadn't known about this Christmas album, and came across it by accident after hearing some of the songs on the radio. Even though the album is several years old, the songs won't date because they are seasonal.
I like their arrangements and harmonies, blending old and new. A very pleasant album and glad I bought it. Arrived well before expected date and well packaged, still in cellophane wrapper. It is a very easy to listen to album by this amazing group. My only complaint is that the delivery was very slow and Christmas was almost over before it arrived.
